Everything you need to know about using YoBPM to connect your Apple Watch heart rate to Zwift and other cycling apps.
YoBPM works with Apple Watch Series 4 and newer running watchOS 10 or later. This includes Series 4, 5, 6, SE, 7, 8, 9, 10, and Ultra models.
Yes! Apple Watch uses advanced optical sensors that provide reliable heart rate data for most indoor cycling activities. For the vast majority of Zwift riders, Apple Watch with YoBPM is accurate, comfortable, and more convenient than buying a separate chest strap. See our Apple Watch vs chest strap comparison.
Start a workout in YoBPM on your Apple Watch, tap Start Broadcasting in the iPhone app, then pair your iPhone name as a heart rate monitor in Zwift. Full step-by-step instructions are in our setup guide.
Yes! YoBPM broadcasts as a standard Bluetooth heart rate monitor, so it works with any app that can connect to BLE HRM devices, including TrainerRoad, Rouvy, myWhoosh, Biketerra, and Bitgym.
The Apple Watch reads your heart rate but cannot directly broadcast Bluetooth to other devices. The iPhone app receives the heart rate from your watch and broadcasts it as a Bluetooth heart rate monitor that Zwift can connect to.
Yes. Your iPhone broadcasts the Bluetooth HRM signal to whatever device is running Zwift. Keep your iPhone within Bluetooth range of your Apple TV, Mac, or iPad, typically on a shelf near your trainer.
Make sure YoBPM is actively broadcasting on iPhone before opening Zwift's pairing screen. Confirm the watch workout is running and Bluetooth is enabled. Remove any old HRM pairings in Zwift and scan again. See our troubleshooting section for more tips.
YoBPM offers two options: a weekly plan at $1.99/week with a 7-day free trial, or a one-time lifetime purchase for $9.99 with no subscription. Many riders prefer the lifetime option: pay once, use forever.
Press and hold your watch face → Tap Edit → Swipe to complications → Tap a slot → Select YoBPM → Press Digital Crown to save.
Your iPhone needs to be within Bluetooth range of both your Apple Watch and the device running Zwift. We recommend keeping your phone near your trainer setup for the best connection reliability.
YoBPM is optimized for efficiency. During a typical 1-hour ride, expect about 10–15% battery drain on your Apple Watch (similar to any workout) and minimal impact on your iPhone battery.
Yes. YoBPM processes heart rate data locally on your devices to broadcast via Bluetooth. We do not operate servers that store your heart rate or health data. Read our Privacy Policy for details.
For most riders, Apple Watch with YoBPM is the better choice: no extra hardware, one-time purchase, and accurate enough for real Zwift training. Read our full comparison guide to see why YoBPM beats buying a chest strap.
